When should I arrive? How long should I stay?

We hope to spend lots of time with our friends and family making the trip to San Francisco for our wedding!

We realize that Thursday isn't the most convenient date for some of our guests to travel, but it was the only date that worked given other constraints. Our hope was that those of your traveling could take advantage of the long weekend (in both the US and Canada!) to take in some of the gorgeous Northern California after the wedding.

We suggest arriving by Wednesday night to make sure you have a relaxed time getting to the ceremony on Thursday. If you fly in Thursday morning, make sure to give yourself enough time to easily get to the ceremony by 4pm!

What airport should I fly to?

From both San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) you can easily rent a car or take public transportation to get to the hotel. We would not recommend flying into San Jose (SJO), as it may take 1-2 hours to drive and 2+ hours via public transit.

Do I need to rent a car?

The Claremont in 1.3 miles from the BART station. This is quite a walk, so we suggest renting a car to get to and from the hotel. Please note that a taxi ride can be very expensive between the airport and the claremont. Further, it will be very difficult to get a taxi home after the wedding ceremony. We have arranged for reduced parking fees under our hotel block.

Where should I stay?

We suggest staying at the Claremont. In our opinion, it's the best value for money in the Berkeley area. Please see the 'visiting' page for details. We have negotiated a very good price on the rooms and resort facilities. We and our families will be staying there, it is likely where most of the 'informal' partying will occur, and we are looking into providing transportation between the hotel and the ceremony. We know that Bay Area prices are high compared to other areas, but this is a relatively good price for the Bay Area (compare >$400 a night for many San Francisco hotels).

Should I bring my child(ren)?

While we love your kiddos, we kindly request an adults-only celebration. Please let us know if this poses a problem. We'll do our best to help you make arrangements for child care the night of the ceremony if your children are traveling with you.

What should I wear to the ceremony/reception?

The dress code is "cocktail attire." We encourage you to dress up, but this is not a black-tie affair.

The ceremony will be outdoors, so be prepared with a wrap or light jacket and sunglasses.
